A Day in the District: An Assembly Makes a Difference

All students at RES need different things, and all students at RES get what they need. All people in the whole world are different. On Friday, we will be meeting people who have facial differences. Their faces do not look the same as yours or mine. We celebrate differences at RES.”
- Kelly Svendsen, Elementary Supervisor, RES & FES

Elementary Supervisor Kelly Svendsen runs a kindness assembly every month at Ridgebury Elementary School. For this month’s assembly she teamed with the RES Parent Teacher Association to bring in speakers from My Face, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of patients with facial disfigurement by funding medical, surgical, dental and psychosocial services as well as research and public awareness. For this month’s day in the district feature, we attended the assembly and put together some highlights for you. Enjoy the video.

Leadership Insights with Principal Palladino of Ridgebury Elementary School

Student-Centered Leadership in Action

He is a second generation educator. He has two brothers who are also principals, the oldest at a high school, the middle one at a middle school, and the youngest, Principal Jamie Palladino, is at our Ridgebury Elementary School. We can only imagine the teaching conversations they have around the family table! Perhaps in this month’s leadership insight we can get a good idea.

We asked Principal Palladino what “student centered leadership” means to him. It is key to the success of a teaching and learning community, and no one demonstrates it better than he does. Watch the video!

Standardized Testing Schedule

This year’s state standardized testing program includes Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment, the SAT, and NGSS Field Test. We are also administering the PSAT 8/9 during the testing window. Students in grades 3-8, as well as grades 9 and 11, are participants in these assessments. Please see our spring standardized testing schedule for testing grades, dates, and windows.
